Air Dynamics Philosophy, and Approach
Air Dynamics Industrial Systems Corporation
Air Dynamics' History
Read our Founder's HistorySome companies begin with a business plan.
Air Dynamics began with a problem that needed to be solved.
Long before the company was founded, our president, Dan Lehman, developed a passion for understanding how things worked. Growing up on a farm, repairing equipment wasn't optional—it was simply part of everyday life. When machinery broke, there wasn't always someone to call. You figured it out. You learned how systems worked, why they failed, and how to make them work better.
That mindset never left.
Years later, Dan was presented with an engineering challenge unlike anything he had encountered before. The U.S. military needed an environmental test chamber capable of recreating blowing sand and dust conditions to evaluate equipment under some of the harshest environments imaginable. There wasn't an off-the-shelf solution. The project demanded an understanding of airflow, particle movement, environmental control, precision fabrication, and creative engineering.
Rather than asking, "What equipment should we use?" Dan asked a different question:
"What is the problem we're trying to solve?"
That project became the foundation of Air Dynamics.
Incorporated in 1989, the company was built on a simple belief that still guides every project today: the best solutions begin with understanding the process—not selling equipment.
As industrial manufacturers sought help with dust collection, airborne contaminants, pneumatic conveying, industrial vacuum systems, and other complex air handling challenges, Air Dynamics applied the same engineering philosophy that launched the company. Every project began with discovery. Every solution was designed around the customer's process, facility, materials, and operational goals.
Over the years, that philosophy has taken Air Dynamics into a wide range of industries, including aerospace, food processing, pharmaceuticals, mining, energy production, recycling, chemical processing, and heavy manufacturing. Although the applications have changed, the engineering approach has remained remarkably consistent.
We believe every manufacturing facility is unique.
Material characteristics change.
- Processes evolve.
- Facilities expand.
- Operators interact with equipment differently.
- Environmental conditions vary.
Because of that, no two systems should be designed exactly alike. That's why we are not an off-the-shelf provider. We are an engineering solutions provider.
That philosophy has led to seven U.S. patents, long-standing relationships with some of the world's most respected manufacturers, and thousands of engineered solutions that continue to operate in demanding industrial environments.
Today, every system is still engineered and manufactured from our facility in York, Pennsylvania. Our engineers, designers, fabricators, and craftsmen continue to approach every project the same way Dan approached that first military test chamber—by asking questions, understanding the process, and engineering the right solution before selecting the equipment.
Technology has advanced considerably since 1989, but the principles that built Air Dynamics have not.
We still believe that solving complex manufacturing challenges requires curiosity before conclusions, engineering before equipment, and long-term performance over short-term fixes.
