Do You Have an Air & Particle Control Problem to Solve?
Contact UsAddressing the Unique Challenges of the Marine Environment
The marine and cruise industries face various challenges, including harsh environmental conditions, strict regulatory requirements such as SOLAS or safety of life at sea, and the need for safe, efficient operations. We offer various solutions to address air and particle control in the vessel hotel and galley.
SOLAS – Safety of life at sea is paramount to all maritime vessels, especially yachting, cruise, naval ships and boats.
Fire at sea presents unique challenges compared to land-based fires. Key contributors to fires that occur in densely occupied vessels are the activities conducted to support passengers, crew, vessel operations and maintenance, while under way. Vessel fires can originate from maintenance activities, electrical malfunctions, fuel leaks, welding, smoking, LI batteries, commercial cooking and textile drying operations in hotel services.
Without fuel, fire cannot start. Air Dynamics manufactures several technologies to significantly reduce the risk of marine fires in hotel and galley operations. Without engineered controls, commercial cooking operations and hotel post wash laundry drying operations continuously add fuel to the vessel ventilation ducts. The ducts from main laundry dryers originate below the waterline, extending through each deck to the funnel or whale tail.
Highly flammable textile lint and grease are deposited inside the ducts. Cleaning the large ducts while under way is not possible without shutting down the 24-7 operations. Maintenance is deferred until maintenance is performed in dry dock. Significant amounts of textile lint and residual cooking grease can accumulate in the ducts presenting risk of fire and costly maintenance.
Air Dynamics offers engineered solutions to significantly reduce or eliminate textile lint, cooking oils and animal fats from accumulating in maritime air ducts where vessel fires have occurred. Commercial cooking and textile drying operations require preemptive treatment to capture and contain flammable constituents at the point-of-generation.
Commercial Kitchen Ventilation Scrubbers
Our patented commercial kitchen ventilation air scrubbers are excellent at removing odors, grease, and carbonized pollutants from cruise or marine vessel galleys before the air enters the ducting system and air movers. The particle control technology works to keep the CKV ducts clean and safe while meeting strict environmental regulations while minimizing dry dock maintenance activities.
Textile Dust and Particle Control Collectors
We offer industrial textile dust collectors that capture, contain and filter airborne contaminants at efficiencies of 99.95% @ 0.5 microns including:
- Textile Dust
- Flammable Particulates
- Combustible Vapors and Mists
Air Dynamics has been safeguarding passengers, crew aboard maritime assets since 2002 after a July, 1998 cruise vessel fire originating in the main laundry a mile off the coast of Alaska. Our lint capture systems have been put to a real-life, at-sea, trial-by-fire where a post maintenance oily rag was left behind in a dryer duct. The subsequent fire was contained in the lint capture system because the duct to the top side was free of textile fuel.
Ventilation Systems
The engineered commercial kitchen ventilation systems we design, and manufacture provide improved temperature environment for galley personnel by optimizing airflow into the hood. On marine vessels, this means they enhance the indoor air temperature, quality and energy efficiency levels while controlling cooking effluents at the source. These systems address specific safety needs of marine CKV operations. Other areas such as bilge, engine room, marine diesel exhaust, waste water treatment, crew quarters, cabins, can be treated for particle control, oil mists and other pollutants.
Centralized Vacuum Cleaning Systems
Our advanced centralized vacuum systems offer hygiene and efficient removal of dust, dirt and skin sluffed off by humans. Housekeeping vacuum cleaning systems for marine applications improve overall cleanliness, air quality and reduce labor compared to low performing, short-lived, high maintenance portable equipment used on cruise vessels. We design compact, centralized systems to perform admirably in marine environments. Passengers can and will notice a distinct difference in air quality in cabins cleaned with powerful, dustless, central vacuum cleaning systems.
