What is Static Pressure? See ACGIH 

 

Static pressure is the amount of work (horsepower) that the fan has to overcome in order to be able to move the correct amount of air through your system (ductwork). If the fan selection is incorrect due to improper design, the system will not work correctly, causing poor system performance.

 

What determines static pressure in an air moving system?

 

Amount of air (Cubic feet per minute), velocity (feet per minute), and the area (feet^2) that the air flows through.

 

What determines air velocity?

 

Cubic feet per minute of air (CFM) divided by the area that it is moving through (feet^2)

 

How to reduce CFM to realize energy savings?
